CURATOR OF MAMMALS AND BIRDS

The University of Wisconsin Zoological Museum, located in the Noland
Zoology Building, houses extensive collections of ca. 225,000 vertebrates
(skins, skeletons, histological, and fluid-preserved specimens). The Museum
provides support for teaching and research activities by university
personnel both in and outside Wisconsin, state and federal agencies, and
qualified individuals. The Academic Curator will be responsible for the
maintenance and growth primarily of the mammal skin and skull collections,
and secondarily of the bird collections; supervision of and participation
in all preparative activities; decisions on loans, exchanges and gifts of
mammal and bird specimens; participation in grant-writing; and, in
cooperation with the Registrar/Database Manager, provision of information
for the creation of, entry into, and maintenance of museum database files
pertaining to the collections of mammals and birds.

Master's in zoology, biology, museology, or related discipline required. 

Minimum of 4 years' work in natural museum collections. The Master's degree
must have been awarded by commencement of position. Specialization in
mammals (required) and demonstrated competence with birds.
