Museum Informatics/Systems Manager Position
The University of Colorado Museum is accepting applications for a new
technology position focused on the management and dissemination of natural
history collections data. We are seeking a detail-oriented individual with
an interest in museums and museum collections. Excellent time management
skills, the ability to work with a diverse group of people in a changing
environment, and effective verbal communication are a must. Applicants
must have experience in bio-informatics, library or archive science, and
understand data flow associations with these systems. Expertise with
database networks and data sharing issues, including remote access via ODBC
using SQL, serving database information via HTML/XML, synchronizing data,
and troubleshooting basic network problems is essential. Candidates will
have experience with Access, FileMaker Pro, Paradox, and experience with
server-based databases like Microsoft SQL server. The desired candidate
has demonstrated ability to work effectively on multiple platforms and
operating systems, to develop, build and manage web sites, to use web-based
wyswyg layout programs and data back-up systems, and to use scanning and
image archiving applications. A Bachelor's or technical degree in a
related field and a minimum of one-year professional IT experience is
required. This position is salaried at $52,000, plus benefits, and is
funded initially for a one-year appointment. Please send cover letter,
