To all Ichthyology NHCOLL list members

The South African Institute Institute for Aquatic Biodiversity (previously the
JLB Smith Institute of Ichthyology) is presently moving its alcohol-preserved
fish collections from their shelves in preparation for the installation of
compact shelving. Construction should be completed at the end of June 2003, and
collections will be moved to the new facility between July 2003 to the end of
the year. During this time access to the collections will be difficult, and so
it will not be possible to make specimen loans until the collection is in its
new compact shelves, hopefully by early 2004.

We therefore recommend that anyone who is planning to borrow alcohol preserved
specimens from the SAIAB should submit a loan request before the end of April,
and preferably asap.
