Herbarium Technicians - 2 posts
Starting Salary is £15, 184
The Department of Botany currently has vacancies for 2 Herbarium
Technicians. You will be part of a team of 5, within the Curation Division,
who are responsible for the preparation of dried plant specimens for
incorporation into the Museums collections, the conservation and repair of
existing specimens and associated curatorial duties, including
incorporating mounted material into the collections.
You will be able to work independently with minimal supervision and have
strong team working skills. The duties involve handling delicate and
valuable materials with care, assisting with remedial conservation of
specimens and associated items and copying simple written information
neatly and accurately. City and Guilds or equivalent in materials
conservation would be desirable, but attention to detail, patience and
adaptability are all essential.
Benefits include a non-contributory pension scheme, interest-free season
ticket loan, on site gymnasium facilities and a generous leave entitlement
of 25 days.
Closing date for applications is August 1st.
