COLLECTIONS PROJECT MANAGER
We require a project manager to co-ordinate and develop a range of 
collections-based projects, primarily focusing on the documentation of the 
herbarium collections and making accessible the data contained within them.

The Department holds significant collections in all groups of plants 
(excluding only non-lichenised fungi). The successful candidate will be 
expected to manage and ensure implementation of curation projects in the 
Department and to stand in place of the Head of Collections as required to 
maintain continuity of management within the Curation Division. You will 
provide an interface between collections management and active research 
projects. On a broader front, you will provide corporate support for 
collections related projects in the NHM as a whole including collections 
standards, and seek funds for collections management projects.

You should possess minimally a degree and ideally a post-graduate 
qualification (or equivalent experience) in collections management or 
natural history and be familiar with databasing and digitally imaging 
natural history specimens. Good interpersonal skills are essential. 
Evidence of participation in relevant research and a list of publications 
are desirable.

This post is for three years in the first instance with a starting salary 
in the range of GBP30,000-32,000; this includes a substantial 
non-contributary pension scheme.

The post will be available from August 2003.
