[NHCOLL-L:1856] invertebrate specimens/collections for molecular work

I am curious how others are storing their small invertebrates (1 mm - 2
cm) destined to be used in molecular analyses.

Specifically, do you keep them frozen (and at what temperature), stored
in 95% ethanol for the long-term, do you sort them to individual
taxonomic units, split lots and store some specimens with ethanol
preserved research collections and the others in some sort of frozen
"tissue" collection?

How do you treat unsorted habitat samples (e.g., unsorted coral rubble,
an algal wash, or a meiofauna sample)?

Looking forward to your comments and insights, Regina
