Greetings,

At the Carnegie Museum Herp Collection we follow the rules to the "T" after
taking training a course in both Domestic and International Shipping of
Hazardous goods (two separate days last October and November - very
expensive). We have had success using UPS ground within the US with proper
labeling, but have suspended international loans because of costs. I shipped
a few UPS worldwide at a moderate price, but they refused the last shipment.
DHL and FedEX are far too expensive for the budget. I can't wait till
someone convinces the Postal Service that a preserved frog won't blow up an
airplane. Either that, or we need a resurgence in study of skeletal
material.

In regards to those who actually pack the shipment vs. training. Since I am
the sole employee in the Carnegie Museum of Natural History Amphibian and
Reptile Collection, and have training, the Museum is in total compliance for
this section. (2 others in other museum sections also had training but 90%
of the fluid loans originate in herps).

Collection Manager
