[NHCOLL-L:2416] Donation appraisals

In the past few weeks I've had several people ask me what their fossil
finds and collections are worth, and how to determine the value of their
donations for tax purposes. The requests range from the value of a single
bone, to a large mineral collection.

Are there any guidelines or information about this for collections staff
and the public? Our collection policy makes the donor responsible for
having specimens appraised (we don't do valuations or appraisals), but I'd
like to provide a bit more information for our donors.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Tiffany.
