Job Opening: Department of Herpetology, American Museum of Natural History, 
Central Park West at 79th Street, New York 10024.

Title: the position may be filled as Curatorial Associate (PhD required) or 
Collection Manager (no PhD required).

Responsibilities and duties: Day-to-day management of the herpetology 
collections and related data; supervise staff responsible for specimen 
care, cataloguing of new collections, databasing, loans, and visitors; help 
develop policies and procedures for collection care, research use, and 
growth; coordinate planning for conservation projects and other duties as 
assigned by the curator-in-charge.

Qualifications: PhD in a relevant field required for title of Curatorial 
Associate; PhD not required for title of Collection Manager. Regardless of 
title, collection and staff management skills and experience will be the 
major determining factor in the selection. Knowledge of herpetological 
taxonomy and experience with collection databases required; experience with 
conservation methods and successful grant proposal writing desirable.

Salary: commensurate with experience and level of position.

Hours: 35/week M-F
