Exhibit Design for the Small Museum
Fee: $810
Course Dates:  June 12-15, 2006
Registration Deadline: May 15, 2006

This course is designed for small museums with limited resources and staff with little 
or no design experience. You'll learn the basic elements and principles of design 
(e.g., line, color, shape, balance, variety and repetition) and how to apply them 
effectively to museum exhibits; the process of exhibit development; conservation 
concerns and the use of archival materials in the design of exhibit cases and 
components; the design of exhibit labels, typography, exhibit lighting and accessibility.

Located in Mt. Carroll, Illinois, the Campbell Center for Historic Preservation 
Studies offers continuing education to meet the training needs of individuals 
who work to preserve historic landscapes and cultural, historic, and artistic 
properties. Workshops and courses last from two days to two weeks. 
Students are housed in dormitories on the campus of the former Shimer College, 
a group of 14 structures listed on the National Register of Historic Places. 
Mt. Carroll is in the Northwest corner of Illinois, about 2 ½ hours from Chicago.
