POSITION SUMMARY 
Supervises the care, management, development and proper utilization of Museum anthropology collections. Manages staff, students and volunteers; administers budgets and grants; and offers general collection support to the Museum, other institutions and agencies 

1. Responsible for routine collection management activities including care and preventative conservation activities, documentation, budgets and reports for collections 
2. Oversee new collections acquisitions and associated research, inventory, physical care and data entry 
3. Organize research requests, loan requests and public requests 
4. Assist in exhibition preparation by selecting objects and providing research support and written copy material 
5. Participate in museum educational activities including docent training, special tours of collections or exhibitions, outreach programs, and lectures. 
6. Interact with professionals and the public by telephone, correspondence, email, and in person to provide information and answer questions 
7. Maintain collection storage areas, laboratories, and related work areas. 
8. Assist in training and supervising employees, volunteers and students working with collections 
9. Assist other Museum departments with anthropology collections and participate in institutional committee assignments 
10. Prepare collections for move to a new facility and assist in organization and implementation of move

Qualifications
1. A Bachelors degree 
2. Advanced degree in Museum Studies, Museum Science, or 5-7 years of experience in museum collection management 
3. Demonstrated oral and written communication skills 
4. Good organizational and interpersonal communication skills

Work Schedule
Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm.
