  CALL FOR PAPERS

[]

This spring the Science Museum of Minnesota will
host the 21st annual meeting of the Society for
the Preservation of Natural History Collections
May 21 – 26, 2007. The theme of the meeting
centers on capital projects: Building for the
Future: Museums of the 21st Century. Papers on
this topic and for the general session, "bridge
building” are being solicited. Papers of general
interest to the SPNHC audience that do not fall
under either theme will also be considered.
In order to have a presentation (oral or poster)
considered for inclusion in the program, an
abstract must be submitted before March 1, 2007.
Please follow the abstract submission instructions below.
Oral presentations: The anticipated time allotted
for each oral presentation is 15 minutes,
including time for questions and discussion. If
there is a greater number of abstracts submitted
than presentation time available, the conference
committee may choose to run concurrent technical
sessions or to adjudicate submissions.
Poster presentations: This is an ideal format for
presenting preliminary findings, innovations from
a related field, or student projects. An "Author
in Attendance" period will be organized, giving
presenters the opportunity to discuss their
posters with conference attendees. Space allotted
for each poster is 5' x 5' (1.52m x 1.52m).
Abstract Submission:
· List all authors: surname first,
followed by first and middle names or initials;
separate authors’ names with semicolons
· List authors addresses: link authors to
addresses with asterisks to avoid ambiguity;
separate multiple addresses with semicolons
· Include the title in boldface
· Add the body of the abstract. Maximum
size is 450 words. If longer, it may be
truncated. Avoid passive voice and superfluous
text such as "will be discussed."
·        Add the following information:
o       Name of individual(s) presenting the paper or poster;
o        Daytime phone number and e-mail address of each presenter;
o       "Oral Presentation" or "Poster Presentation";
o Audiovisual equipment required (e.g., LCD
or video projector, slide projector, overhead, etc.)

Submit your abstract via e-mail to
<mailto:ganderson at smm.org>ganderson at smm.org . The
abstract should be placed in the body of the
e-mail not as an attachment. Please include the
words "abstract submission" in the subject line.
