Curatorial Technician (PED 00110, TE0011, Level 11)

Annual Salary Scale: $35,252 - $48,624
35 hrs/wk 


Position Summary 


Under the direction of the immediate supervisor, oversees the day-to-day operations related to the care and maintenance of a specialized collection. Organizes, distributes and verifies the work of others, and participates in their training. Describes and catalogues the collection. Acts as a liaison and resource person with researchers and the public. Plans and organizes exhibits. Organizes visits and workshops. Recommends acquisition of materials for collection. 


Education and Experience Required 


DEC III (Documentation and Library Systems). Three (3) years' related experience. 


Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities 


Knowledge of museum practices such as cataloguing, accessions, loans and specimen preparation. Previous experience in the preparation and preservation and cataloguing of varied zoological specimens. Demonstrated organizational ability and ability to work independently. Demonstrated interpersonal skills necessary for interacting with staff and students of McGill and other universities as well as with the general public. Able to use and maintain a variety of specialized laboratory equipment and tools as well as familiarity with audiovisual equipment. Ability to carry heavy loads. English, spoken and written. French spoken.
