[NHCOLL-L:3781] URGENT - Free to a good home - Wheaton bale-top jars

Hi all

 

The ichthyology and herpetology divisions at the University of Kansas Biodiversity Institute are in the process of decommissioning a large number of old style Wheaton bale-top jars in favor of newer, better jars.  Rather than have these go into a land fill or be recycled we thought that a museum nearby may have an interest in these jars.  We are offering them free to any museum willing to come and collect them and cart them off.  The problem is that we are under a time crunch as the space that these jars presently occupy is needed for housing a newly acquired collection.  All jars need to be out of the space by March 10th.  The jars could always be stored elsewhere (a trailer or storage unit) temporarily if you would be willing to arrange such.

 

We have thousands (a 1200 square foot space packed to the rafters - exact numbers difficult to estimate) of these in various sizes - ½ pint, tall pint, regular pint, quart and ½ gallon.  We also have a supply of gaskets for these jars.  The vast majority of the jars have been used and repacked in cardboard boxes but some are new and still in original boxes.

 

Ideally we would like someone to take all jars as a single unit.  If anyone has an interest in these jars, please contact me ASAP to make arrangements to take them or view them.  I would be happy to send any interested party an image of the jars if necessary.
