Subj: Update on August 11-14 Care and Handling of Photographs Institute and
Digitization Projects Workshop

Dear Catherine:
The agendas for the August 12-14 Institute, “Care and Handling of Photographs
” and the August 11 pre-institute workshop, “Digital Projects: From
Concept to Completion” are now available on the Tribal Conference website at
_www.tribalconference.org_ (http://www.tribalconference.org/) .
The registration fee for the one-day Digital Projects workshop is $50 and
includes breakfast, lunch, and materials. You may register online or download
a registration form and mail or fax it to us.
The registration fee for the three-day Photographs institute is $200 and
includes breakfast and lunch for all three days, dinner on Wednesday evening,
extensive handouts, and the book Photographs: Archival Care and Management .
The book alone retails for $89.
Thanks to the Institute of Museum and Library Services as well as the
National Historical Publications and Records Commission, we have funding for about
10 scholarships. To request funding, which typically covers registration,
lodging, and a small travel stipend, go online to www.tribalconference.org .
You may also respond to this email with a brief description of your needs,
current job responsibilities, and how you believe you will benefit from the
workshop and/or institute. Tribal members and people working with tribal
museums, libraries, and archives receive priority.
The Institute hotel is the Cherokee Resort and Casino in Tulsa, OK. Room
rates are $73 per night at the Resort and $48 per night at the Cherokee Inn
which is across the street from the Resort/Conference Center. The resort
provides free internet, parking, and airport shuttle from the Tulsa International
Airport. Make sure to let the registration desk know that you are attending
the Institute to ensure that you receive the special rate. Rooms are on a
first-come, first-served basis. The resort is a popular destination, so plan
to make your reservations as soon as possible. The phone number for the hotel
is 1-800-760-6700 and the website is _www.cherokeecasino.com_
(http://www.cherokeecasino.com/) .
I’m also interested in hearing from you if you would like to present at the
October 21-23 Library Institute and the October 24 Building and Managing
Culturally Responsive Library Collections. If you have a presentation in mind,
please go to _www.tribalconference.org_ (http://www.tribalconference.org/) and
submit a proposal.

P.S. Your help is needed in getting the word out about the Institutes.
Please feel free to post information anywhere you feel is appropriate. Thank
you!
