Curator of Algae and Curator of Flowering Plants

£22,000-£27,000 plus benefits 

Closing Date: 25th June 2008   

    

The Department of Botany is looking to appoint two Curators; one will manage the internationally significant algal herbarium and the other will join the team managing the 3 million specimens in the flowering plant collections. You will carry out routine curation, develop and implement projects to maximize access to collections and associated data, monitor and minimize risks to the collections, and assist with the management and development of digital resources. You will also manage and encourage volunteers and work experience students working in the herbaria. 

To be successful you must have a degree in biological science or equivalent experience.. Previous natural history collections management experience is essential along with experience in team working,  a demonstrable interest in and knowledge of botany and a sound understanding of curatorial work. 

 Role Requirements

*	degree in biological science or equivalent experience 
*	experience of entering data accurately into databases, spreadsheets etc. 
*	natural history collections management experience  
*	experience of working in both teams and with minimal supervision 
*	sound understanding of curatorial work 
*	demonstrable interest in  and knowledge of Botany
