Lori Foley to Lead Emergency Programs at Heritage Preservation
Succeeds Jane Long after twenty years

Heritage Preservation is pleased to announce that Lori Foley, Director of
Preservation Services at the Northeast Document Conservation Center
(NEDCC), will become its Vice President for Emergency Programs. Foley will
succeed Jane Long, who is leaving Heritage Preservation after almost 20 years to
become Preservation Program Officer at the National Archives and Records
Administration.

Among her responsibilities, Foley will coordinate the activities of the
Heritage Emergency National Task Force, a partnership of 41 national service
organizations and federal agencies created to protect cultural heritage
from the damaging effects of disasters. She will also lead the national
Alliance for Response project, which brings cultural heritage leaders and
emergency responders together, as well as a tribal preparedness project in
cooperation with the Department of the Interior.

“Jane Long has provided extraordinary vision for Task Force efforts and
developed innovative programs and publications that are serving the nation,
and Lori Foley is her ideal successor,” said Larry Reger, president of
Heritage Preservation. “Lori has demonstrated exceptional creativity and
leadership in the work she has done at NEDCC, and we look forward to working
with her at the national level.”

Foley currently manages NEDCC’s ongoing education and outreach activities
in New England and beyond. In recent years she has taken leadership roles
in national and regional efforts regarding emergency preparedness and
response for collecting institutions. She is a member of the Massachusetts
Emergency Management Team; the co-chair of the Emergency Committee of the
American Institute for Conservation (AIC); a member of the AIC Collections
Emergency Response Team; and a member of the Alliance for Response National
Advisory Committee. Ms. Foley was the project director for dPlan™, a free
online template for creating customized disaster plans, and for the
Coordinated Statewide Emergency Preparedness (COSTEP) program, a framework for model
state partnerships.
