AIC Collection Care Network
AIC, funded by the Samuel H. Kress Foundation, is currently building a new web based resource called STASH (Storage Techniques for Art, Science and History collections) based on the understanding that the best ideas for safe and sustainable storage and supports come from collaborative solutions. This project was precipitated by the need to find a new way to disseminate the older but highly valuable text, Storage of Natural History Collections: Ideas and Practical Solutions, originally published by the Society for the Preservation of Natural History Collections (SPNHC), and is designed to gather, organize and solicit new storage ideas.
The 42nd annual AIC Meeting on sustainable choices in collections care provides a terrific forum for continued discussion about these topics. A STASH FLASH session has been approved for the General Session on Wednesday, May 28. The session will utilize a lightening round or "Tips" session format as well as guided, audience participatory discussion.
We are calling for contributions of short (5 minute) presentations about an innovative, efficient or sustainable storage solution to be presented at the session and then posted on the STASH website following the conference. We hope to have representatives from all specialty groups. Updates of solutions presented in the original SPNHC volume will also be applicable.
To submit your idea, please send a short abstract including the following information to Lisa Goldberg (lgoldberg at stny.rr.com<mailto:lgoldberg at stny.rr.com>). Please include STASH Flash in the subject line.
