[Nhcoll-l] C-cigarettes in museums

Hi,

A few months ago there was a question about e-cigarettes in museums. In line with a recent policy change at National Museum Wales I have undertaken some basic research. Please read the results here: http://www.museumwales.ac.uk/blog/?cat=2484#like_buttons_WpL9PF8itKkinXXpE50VcMwR.

Most research on c-cigarettes (much of it done by the tobacco industry...) appears to have focussed on the effects to human health; nobody, to my knowledge, has looked specifically into the effects on objects that are exposed to 'vaping'. However, from studying some of the substances that are emitted, and knowing their effects on museum objects, we can make some deductions. Crucially, we cannot necessarily draw any conclusions from the ingredients, as what goes into an e-cigarette appears to be quite different from what a user exhales into the environment.

If there is anyone with any additional information of e-cigs on museum objects I would be really interested to hear from you.
