[Nhcoll-l] training courses in Berlin; conference announcement

Dear all,

I would like to announce two training courses that will ake place at the Museum für Naturkunde in Berlin, Germany, in late November (see attached files).

The first one "Access and Benefit Sharing and other legal aspects of shipping preserved animals and tissues" (25 November 2014, all day) is an update on the workshop Dirk Neumann and I offered at the SPNHC conference this summer. For  those who were unable to attend in Cardiff, this would be an opportunity to brush up their knowledge on the international shipping of specimens.

The second one, "Basic Collection Techniques" (November 26-28, 2014) is a training geared towards new staff in collections wishing to obtain basic knowledge on the work with natural history collections or towards more experienced staff who wish to update their knowledge. A wide variety of topics including conservation issues, dry and wet collections and documentation is covered.

Participation in these courses is free. However, since space is limited, a registration (e-mail to info.cec at mfn-berlin.de<mailto:info.cec at mfn-berlin.de>) is needed.

Also, I would like to forward an announcement (attached) of a conference on "Choosing the green way - sustainable strategies in cultural heritage" which will take place in Berlin, Germany, on May 4, 2015.
