[Nhcoll-l] Position announcemnet - Collections Manager at the Delaware Museum of Natural History

The Delaware Museum of Natural History is hiring a Collections Manager to work in the Mollusk Collection.  We are looking for a detail-oriented person who will be both a caretaker of and advocate for the collection. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

*         maintaining and conserving the Mollusk and other non-vertebrate collections;

*         responding to research inquiries regarding the collection;

*         working with Curator to maintain and improve the collections databases;

*         overseeing and documenting outgoing and incoming loans and new specimen donations;

*         assisting visitors in use of collections and library, and providing tours of the collections;

*         managing requests for the du Pont Trophy awarded at various shell shows;

*         facilitating training and management of departmental volunteers and interns;
Minimum Qualifications:

*         BA / BS in Biology or other scientific fields including Computer Science and Museum Studies required. MA/MS preferred;

*         1 - 2 years' experience in natural history collection management; interest in bioinformatics and digitization of natural history collections;

*         Familiarity with relational databases, Excel spreadsheets and imaging software;

*         Familiarity with natural history, geography, and taxonomy of mollusks preferred;
