Hunterian Museum, Glasgow.

They will work on a project to move the Hunterian collection into
world class new facilities at Kelvin Hall, Glasgow.

Job Purpose

To locate, pack and supervise the move The Hunterian collections from
current storage to the new stores at Kelvin Hall. The postholder will
be required to provide an effective service and clear advice to
colleagues and clients, and the ability not only to plan and
prioritise own work activities but to react to changing
issues/priorities as required.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

1. To assist the Kelvin Hall Decant Project Manager in the day-to-day
operations of the Hunterian’s collections decant programme.

2. To locate, move and pack the Hunterian’s collections in accordance
with best practice in collection care and health and safety.

3. To maintain and update collections management records as appropriate.

4. To assist in the identification, monitoring and recording of
environmental and conservation issues relating to the relocation of
the collections.

5. Ensure all appropriate records on KE EMu are updated as collections
relocate, including but not limited to locations, images, and
conservation.

6. To assist the Kelvin Hall Decant Project Manager in delivering all
aspects of the Kelvin Hall Decant team functions as appropriate.

Job Features

Dimensions
Operational: Packing and movement of the Hunterian’s collections from
8 sites across campus and the city
Administrative: regular reporting on progress and issues.

Planning and Organising
Responsible for managing own day to day workload. Will be part of a
project team, participating in planning meetings, and will lead on
production of data for discussion by the project team or Hunterian
management.
Manage a large and complex project covering the relocation of the collections.

Decision Making
Responsible for delivery of The Hunterian’s Kelvin Hall decant programme.

Internal/External Relationships
Establishing relationships with other Hunterian staff, Kelvin Hall
partners and external contractors.

Problem Solving
Ability to analyse issues and identify appropriate solutions.
