We purchase our spun bound polyester label material (Preservation Tag) from Alpha Systems.  The media comes in a 600 foot roll in three different widths (4”, 3” and 2.7”) and so your printer would need to accommodate that and also comes in two thicknesses – 0.5 mil and 0.7 mil.  I can send you samples of both if you are interested in seeing it first.  Attached is recent pricing information and contact info from Alpha Systems.  Specs of the printer we use are also attached.

Subject: [Nhcoll-l] "plain" roll polyester paper for thermal-transfer printer

We are purchasing a Citizen CL-S631 thermal transfer printer for making slide labels using the XYrite slide labels that are being sold for archival microslide labeling.  Additionally, it would be great to use the printer for making bar code labels for pinned insects.  I see lots of "labels" but no material without an adhesive backing. Any suggestions for a source would be appreciated.
