In light of recent news, the SPNHC Best Practices Committee wanted to make the museum community aware of a new resource about Threatened and Orphaned Collections on the SPNHC wiki: https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__spnhc.biowikifarm.net_wiki_Threatened-5Fand-5FOrphaned-5FCollections&d=DwIGaQ&c=-dg2m7zWuuDZ0MUcV7Sdqw&r=CLFZJ3fvGSmDp7xK1dNZfh6uGV_h-8NVlo3fXNoRNzI&m=e5D9uPNS5KfrR9tMQJcrX0ZTBVssnhaQCh9iu1AHTN4&s=GuSqw7yNSetlooAau7znA7Almqne7ka8kDshEQzunMY&e=
The aim of this SPNHC Threatened Collections Toolkit, created by Tiffany Adrain and Paula Work (SPNHC Threatened Collections Sub-committee), is to provide information about what to do if you are offered an "orphaned" collection, if your museum's collection becomes endangered, if you want to prevent a collection from becoming orphaned, or if you have to deaccession an orphaned collection.
Best,
Breda Zimkus
