[Nhcoll-l] Advice for reducing/blocking UV/lux/heat

I’m posting this for a Dear colleague.

I am researching ways to reduce and/or completely block UV/Lux/heat coming in through windows in a historic building. So far, UV films seem to be a popular method but I wanted to see if anyone has recommendations for resources or methods that have worked (references/studies, brands that have worked well, other materials, combinations of materials, etc.).

The windows are in areas that are currently being utilized as lab/work spaces or collections storage. For the lab windows, I am thinking of reducing the issues using UV film and blinds. However, for the storage areas, I hope to completely black out the windows in a way that is fairly permanent/low maintenance (lasting more than 10 years) but potentially reversible (not filling the windows in with brick and mortar or concrete). Any insights/suggestions would be very much appreciated, especially for the storage area windows.

Thank you in advance for the assistance!,
