I use one routinely to ship wet specimens.

You can leave a little bit of air inside.

What I typically do is also wrap the wet specimens in paper towel or
alcohol moisten cotton. Specimens fixed to glass or any other backing can
the wrapped and sealed. I ship a lot of prosected specimens, and I wouldn't
do it any other way.
