Good Morning,

On behalf of the RBCM, I am looking for recommendations and comments on long term storage for preservation of acetate peels taken from split fossils.

1. The current plan is that they will be stored in a humidity controlled cool vault after they are scanned. Anyone wanting to view the originals will view them in the cool vault. The cold vault concern is that they will be less accessible and need time to step down in temperature.

2. Should they be placed flat in acid free boxes with acid free separator (in individual envelopes or sheets)

3. Should they be on open shelves rather than in cabinets or will it make a difference?

4. Is any bagging recommended?

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Walt Crimm
