[Nhcoll-l] whale vertebrae in the watere

Dear all,
I received a question from an aquarium about keeping (for expedition purposes) a whale vertebrae in the water. I suggested not to do this because it will be destroyed soon. Do you agree or have any idea of how they can prevent the destruction of the sample in the water?
