Position Overview:<br>
This position is responsible for developing and maintaining an active,<br>
collections-based, extramurally funded research program in mycology.<br>
Teaching duties required of this position include undergraduate and<br>
graduate courses, as well as mentoring students from the University's<br>
diverse undergraduate and graduate student populations. In addition,<br>
this position is responsible for curating the Bell Museum’s mycology<br>
collection. Outreach is an important aspect of this position,<br>
specifically through participation in public programs offered by the<br>
Bell Museum of Natural History.<br>

Major Areas of Accountability:<br>
Mycology systematics research and curation – 50% (which includes 15%<br>
curatorial activity)<br>
The Curator of Fungi is responsible for developing and maintaining an<br>
active, extramurally funded, collections-based research program that<br>
emphasizes a conceptual and interdisciplinary approach to the<br>
systematics and evolution of fungi. The Curator of Fungi is also<br>
responsible for building and maintaining the fungal collections in<br>
line with modern museum practices.<br>

Teaching and educational outreach– 50%<br>
The incumbent will teach 6 credits annually. Possibilities include<br>
undergraduate courses on fungal diversity, systematics and evolution<br>
of fungi, macrofungi, an undergraduate honors seminar, as well as a<br>
graduate course in the incumbent's area of specialty. S/he will be a<br>
member of the graduate faculty and will advise undergraduate and<br>
graduate students, including those from diverse cultural backgrounds.<br>
The incumbent will help maintain accuracy of scientific content in the<br>
public outreach programs of the Bell Museum and will participate in<br>
public outreach initiatives (e.g., teacher workshops, exhibits, or<br>
education programs).<br>

Essential Qualifications<br>
Ph.D. or international equivalent in the Biological Sciences<br>
Demonstrated research emphasis in mycology and systematics<br>
Evidence of interest in curation of museum collections<br>
Preferred Academic Preparation and Experience<br>
Post-doctoral experience<br>
Curatorial experience with fungal collections<br>
Experience maintaining a living fungal collection<br>
Evidence of teaching experience at the college level<br>
Creativity, quality and productivity in research<br>
Potential to maintain an active, extramurally funded research program<br>
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing<br>
Interest in, experience with, and commitment to diversity and cultural<br>
inclusiveness<br>

Salary/Benefits:<br>
Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and<br>
qualifications. Two months of summer salary will be provided for the<br>
first two years; subsequently summer salary may be supplemented by<br>
research and/or educational grants up to 2.5 months. Benefits include<br>
