chemical resistant labels for microscope slides. Note: that “new generation of printers” is not really new – just new to Brady. You are really not limited to only one brand or model of thermal printer, nor are you restricted to certain vendor label products
when it comes to meeting tough conditions like these. It is simply important to use the right combination of material, adhesive and printing ink for each application.

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif";color:#1F497D">Thermal transfer printing proves to be superior to most other on-site label printing technologies because it allows you to use both durable films (with a wide
variety of specialty adhesives) and printing ribbons that can hold up to such demands. Andy is absolutely correct however, about the archival issues that would also need to be addressed. After checking the Brady site, it doesn’t appear that they have pursued
those requirements as they are not typical for most laboratory label products. <o:p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif";color:#1F497D">Frankly we have yet to find a supplier of raw label materials to certify that more durable polyester or plastic label materials are “archival.” That only
seems to come up when discussing paper or synthetic paper labels where wood-free or acid-free issues occur. We do find such vendors will discuss adhesives in terms of “archival” however.

<p class="MsoNormal">We recently obtained a Brady thermal-transfer printer for production of cryovial labels. Upon seeing the results, I wonder if anyone has used something like this for the production of 1x1" labels for glass microslides? The aggressive
adhesives, longevity, and small print on individual labels look to be a better way than what we have been using. <o:p></o:p></p>
