<p class="MsoNormal">The Department of Ornithology at the American Museum of Natural History seeks a two year-term entry-level Biodiversity Informatics Specialist who will contribute to the gathering and analysis of geographic information associated with specimen
records for Amazonian vertebrates, particularly birds and mammals. Duties will include collating specimen records from publically-available databases, georeferencing those records, and contributing to the analysis of spatial biodiversity patterns. This will
be an opportunity to contribute to the scientific understanding of Amazonian biodiversity as a critical team member of a multi-institutional collaborative project on Amazonia, funded by the National Science Foundation-US and São Paulo State Research Foundation
in Brazil. <o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:200%"><b>Qualifications:<o:p></o:p></b></p>
<ul style="margin-top:0in" type="disc">
<li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1">Minimally a BA/BSc in biology or related field is required<o:p></o:p></li><li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1">Experience with biodiversity informatics tools (such as GEOLocate, BioGeomancer, or others) and georeferencing of museum species is essential. Experience with the use of R scripts is also important.<o:p></o:p></li><li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1">Familiarity with South American birds or mammals is a plus.
<o:p></o:p></li><li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1">Familiarity with Amazonian geography is a plus<o:p></o:p></li><li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1">Familiarity with a broad range of computer software is a plus.
<o:p></o:p></li><li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1">The successful applicant will be expected to have good manual dexterity and time-management skills.<o:p></o:p></li></ul>
