Veterinary-client-patient relationship defined.</h2>

veterinary-client-patient relationship serves as the basis for
interaction between veterinarians, their clients, and their
patients. A veterinary-client-patient relationship exists when
all of the following conditions have been met:</p>

sufficient knowledge, the veterinarian shall have seen the
patient recently and also shall be acquainted personally with
the keeping and care of the patient either by examining the
patient or by making medically appropriate and timely visits to
the premises where the patient is kept.</p>

registration, or temporary permit or otherwise discipline the

executive director shall file written charges with the board.

that the holder has violated any provision for which the board

So then the question is whether this is extra-label use of
isoflurane or a dangerous drug. Things get murky here so I
really can't give a definitive answer. I think it is extra-label
use as it is labeled as an anesthetic but that's for human use.
I really don't know if that applies to veterinary use or not. If
I'm not mistaken, the label is only for horses and dogs. <br>

If my reading is correct, then use for a purpose other than
anesthesia in any animals other than dogs or horses would
constitute extra-label use. Now, many IACUCs are saying that you
should use isoflurane to anesthetize the animal prior to thoracic
compression; they are not saying you should use it to kill the
animal. But unless you are conducting thoracic compression on a
dog or a horse (!), it would still be extra-label use and
therefore prescribing it or providing it in the absence of a valid
veterinary-client-patient relationship would not be permissible. <br>
