Apologies if you have submitted an abstract and you haven’t heard from us yet but we have been extremely busy trying to piece everything together. The good news, barring any errors, is we appear to have fitted all the submissions into the conference into what will be a packed and exciting schedule of presentations and posters. We hope to release the detailed program within the next day or two, including details of our inaugural session speakers which will include scientist and presenter Prof Alice Roberts.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>Other news,<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><b><span style='font-size:14.0pt;line-height:106%'>New workshop!</span> </b>Analytical equipment specialists Bruker UK Ltd are looking to host a one day and two half day workshops as part of the SPNHC 2014 (<a href="http://www.museumwales.ac.uk/spnhc2014">http://www.museumwales.ac.uk/spnhc2014</a>) conference. The sessions will include demonstrations of equipment and advising on analytical techniques such as X-Ray fluorescence, (XRF): X-Ray diffraction (XRD); and FTIR / Raman. Committee meetings, which previously took place before the formal opening of the meeting, will now be held on the afternoon following the inaugural session of the conference, on Tuesday June 24th.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>This is no accident. One of the major challenges we face as a Society is getting our membership engaged in the running of SPNHC. The Society's committees are the bedrock of SPNHC, but much of their work goes unseen. We would like to change this.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>Committee meetings have always been open to the SPNHC membership, but this year I want to issue a special invitation to members to attend the meetings on the afternoon of the 24<sup>th</sup> June. The meeting schedule and agendas for the meetings will be published within next few days on the conference website. Come along, participate, ask questions, and - if what you see interests you - consider joining the committee.
