is a nitrile rubber, holds up to ethanol (does not "melt") and does not dry out and crack as does the "orange gasket" (natural rubber) that comes with the Le Parfait jars.

<div>Long ago, the USNM had the die cut for the Le Parfait jar (2 sizes) gaskets. There may be a die already cut for the bail top jars. The gaskets cost about 50 cents each. These gaskets last for a long time or I throw used gaskets away, maybe every ten years
or so if it looks compressed or yellowed. </div>
