This position reports to and works closely with the Collections Manager (me) to effectively manage, preserve, and provide accessibility to the Museum’s collections and archives. Significant projects in the near term are identifying and implementing a new collections management database and making the collections data accessible to broader audiences. The collections date to the 1830s and comprise over 280,000 specimens and artifacts, 500 linear feet of papers, and 100,000 images. The focus of the collection is on the Midwest region of the United States, with supplementary material from across North America. This position is stationed at the Museum’s offsite collections facility in the Ravenswood neighborhood and conducts work periodically at the Nature Museum in Lincoln Park. <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>Please see that attached position announcement or check out our website, <a href="http://www.naturemuseum.org/">http://www.naturemuseum.org/</a>, for more information.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:8.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'>Dawn Roberts | Collections Manager <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:8.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'>The Chicago Academy of Sciences and its Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:8.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'>2430 North Cannon Drive, Chicago, IL 60614 | Main 773-755-5100 | Fax 773-755-5199 | www.naturemuseum.org <br><br><o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:8.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'>Museum Collections and Archives, Collections Facility and Office<br>4001 N Ravenswood Avenue, Suite 201, Chicago, IL 60613 | Direct 773-755-5125 <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:8.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><i><span style='font-size:8.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'>The Urban Gateway to Nature and Science<o:p></o:p></span></i></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p></div></body></html>
