I am not into details with country restrictions for Chile, but be careful when referring to courier / FedEx webistes. The ban on
<i>processed dead animals</i> surely refers to animal matierals which are either fit for human consumption, or traded as animal-by-products, and therefore fall under veterinarian legislation, which is known to be very restrictive in Chile (also for plant material
/ fruits).<br>
<br>
However, our materials are museum specimens, which are identified by completely different custom tariff codes and treated in a completely different way and are not marketed or intended to be accessible to the public. Make sure that you ship specimens under
harmonized customs tariff code 9705.00 and that this code is issued on your FedEx waybill and clearly visible in your shipping docs.<br>

All other (more or less ambiguous) descriptions issued in the "description of goods field" will lead to ambiguous custom tariff code translations by FedEx staff. Bear in mind that the custom tariff codes are also used for vets to identify contents of consignment,
so this tiny bit of information is essential to facilitate import ....<br>

Also make sure that your shipping docs details the preservation of the bones (e.g. boiling, mazaration, any chemical treatment used e.g. for degreasing, mentioning hydrogen peroxide treatment of bones might be advantageous, too).<br>
<br>
Also, ask your colleagues in Chile what they would recommend (they should get into contact with veterinarians at the Santiago airport, maybe also with customs).
<br>
