<p><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"">Le nettoyage électrolytique d’objets composites comportant des éléments en argent ou en argent doré ternis indissociables d’autres éléments en matériaux organiques (bois, cuir…) est désormais
possible grâce à l’utilisation du nouveau pinceau électrolytique développé par l’unité de recherche en conservation-restauration de la Haute Ecole Arc Conservation-restauration en partenariat avec le laboratoire EDANA de la Haute Ecole Arc Ingénierie et le
FabLab de Neuchâtel (<a href="http://www.fablab-neuch.ch/pleco" title="www.fablab-neuch.ch/pleco"><span style="color:#ED7D31">www.fablab-neuch.ch/plec</span>o</a>). Ce pinceau appelé « le Pleco », en référence au poisson nettoyeur d’aquariums, intègre une
cellule électrochimique à 3 électrodes à son extrémité, fermée par un tampon en mousse microporeuse en contact avec la surface à nettoyer. Son profil ergonomique s’accompagne d’un mode de fabrication original basé sur des outils de prototypage rapide développé
par les FabLabs (structures présentes dans de nombreux pays, fonctionnant en réseau, mettant à disposition leurs outils et permettant à tout opérateur de construire son projet) et d’un mode de montage en kit. Autre nouveauté : la solution de traitement est
renouvelée en permanence au niveau du tampon, ce qui assure un traitement sûr et efficace.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p><em><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"">The local cleaning of composite artefacts made from tarnished silver or gilded silver attached to organic components (wood, leather…) is now possible with the new electrolytic
pencil developed by the Conservation Research Unit at the University of Applied Sciences Arc (UR-Arc CR of HE-Arc), Neuchâtel; in partnership with the EDANA laboratory in the Engineering division of HE-Arc and the FabLab, Neuchâtel (</span></em><span class="MsoHyperlink"><i><span style="color:#ED7D31"><a href="http://www.fablab-neuch.ch/pleco" title="www.fablab-neuch.ch/pleco"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif";color:#ED7D31;font-style:normal">www.fablab-neuch.ch/pleco</span></a></span></i></span><em><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"">).
The pencil, called “Pleco” after the aquarium cleaning fish, is made from a 3-electrode cell in a nozzle enclosed by a micro-porous foam pad which</span></em><i><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif""><br>
<em><span style="font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"">is applied to the surface being cleaned. Its ergonomic design is complemented by an original fabrication process based on a kit assembly method and fast prototyping technologies developed in Fablabs (small-scale
networked workshops located in many countries which provide tools to enable any end-user to build projects). A further innovation is the constant renewal of the electrolyte through the pad to ensure a safe and efficient treatment.</span></em><br>
<em><span style="font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"">The course participants will be trained to fabricate the components of the Pleco, assemble their own Pleco and properly use it for locally cleaning tarnished silver and gilded silver using electrolytic processes.
They will also acquire a self-fabricated Pleco by the end of the workshop. All information for the repair and replacement of a defective Pleco component at the Fablab nearest to the participant will also be provided.</span></em></span></i><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif""><o:p></o:p></span></p>
