The system comprises battery-operated HTX transmitters (to measure T, RH, and, in a few galleries, lux and UV), a centrally located receiver (which currently transfers data onto a networked PC, soon to be replaced with a server which will make data storage easier and safer) and, as this is a large historic building with thick concrete walls, a number of repeaters dotted around the building to boost the signals from transmitters to ensure they reach the receiver.
