<td><b>FONCTIONS:</b> Comme collection publique en expansion de plus d’un million de spécimens de plantes, lichens et algues, l’Herbier national du Canada conserve une partie importante des preuves matérielles grâce auxquelles on peut interpréter l’histoire
et l’avenir naturels de notre pays. Dans cette incroyable « bibliothèque végétale », le technicien ou la technicienne botanique collabore étroitement avec le conservateur botanique et une communauté dynamique de chercheurs, visiteurs, bénévoles et stagiaires
pour constituer, préserver et partager la collection de la façon la plus fructueuse possible. Menant de front un ensemble dynamique de projets parallèles, allant des réparations minutieuses d’objets fragiles à la préparation de spécimens en passant par l’offre
aux jeunes visiteurs d’initiations mémorables à la botanique, le technicien ou la technicienne botanique maintient des normes rigoureuses d’organisation, de conservation et de documentation, en plus de répondre avec souplesse à l’évolution des besoins et priorités.
Il ou elle interagit confortablement avec le public et avec les clients représentant les universités, le gouvernement et le secteur public et travaille indépendamment de même qu’au sein d’équipes très diverses. Les passionnés et curieux de nature sont tout
particulièrement adaptés à cette rare occasion.</td>
<td><b>DUTIES:</b> As a growing public collection of over one million preserved specimens of plants, lichens and algae, the National Herbarium of Canada safeguards a significant part of the hard evidence through which our nation’s natural history and future
are understood. Within this incredible “plant library”, the Botany Technician works closely with the Botany Curator and a vibrant community of research staff and associates, visitors, volunteers, and interns, to build, preserve, and share the collection as
productively as possible. Handling a dynamic array of concurrent projects, from meticulous repairs of fragile objects to preparing specimen loans to providing young visitors with memorable first introductions to botany, the Botany Technician maintains rigorous
standards of organization, conservation, and documentation, and flexibly responds to changing needs and priorities. He or she comfortably interacts with the public and with clients representing academic, government, and public sectors, and effectively works
independently and in a wide array of teams. Those passionate and curious about nature are especially well-suited for this rare opportunity.</td>
