Hello Everyone,

We're writing to invite you to create a short screen-cast (5 - 8
minutes max) showing us your leading-edge field-data collecting
practices.

We're planning a Field
to Database Workshop that will take place March 9 - 12 in
Gainesville Florida. This workshop focuses on leading-edge and
current trends in best practices for collecting data (ecological,
specimen, genomic, audio, video, images) in the field.

How do you plan what data to collect in the field?

How do your field-data collecting practices support data
that's perfect for reproducible science?

How do you collect data in the field?

Do you use forms? Websites? What about apps? Data standards
(Darwin Core, etc.)?

How do you get the data from your forms and apps into a
database?

How do you share field data and field metadata with your
colleagues to support discoverability?

Please show us what methods, software and templates you use. We'll
post these videos to the iDigBio website, along with any materials
or website links you suggest.

We plan to have workshop participants watch these, using a
flipped-classroom approach. Then, on day 2 of our workshop, we plan
a session where we invite you to join us remotely, if it fits in
your schedule and time zone, for a discussion of the various methods
the students will have seen on day one, including your videos. In
this way, we can focus on a robust discussion, with time for
questions and insights from the various parties involved.

Thank you very much for considering this and making it possible for
us to spread our net wider to include more examples for the
students.

Please send all videos and materials to me by Thursday, March 5th.

In anticipation,
Deb Paul, and the planning team...
