<p class="MsoNormal">Given the discussion on this listserv regarding the DOI call for comments on their proposed information collection, I thought it only pertinent to share the SPNHC response to the list. Numerous other organizations and institutions also
submitted comments. Thanks to Chris Norris and Sally Shelton for their work on this. They are both members of our US Federal Collections Sessional Committee whose membership also includes members of DOI and this committee is continuing the discussion with
DOI representatives and others in order to foster closer ties and collaboration between federal and non-federal collection holdings entities.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">We are also planning a roundtable discussion at the SPNHC 2015 meeting in Gainesville, FL (May 17-23) on this and other key issues concerning federal collections, permitting and legislation through our Legs and Regs Committee. More information

<p class="MsoNormal">You may have also seen the job description posted this morning for a DOI staff curator. I see this as a positive sign of intent by DOI and an acknowledgment of the additional resources necessary to effectively manage their collections.
I hope that SPNHC can work closely with this person when hired to continue the dialog and assist in any way possible to ensure the effective management of DOI collections.<o:p></o:p></p>
