<p class="MsoNormal">Like most everyone who did not plan far enough
ahead, I am
nearly out of the 17x6 mm oval punched tag formerly made by Dennison.<span
style=""> </span>Variously known and used as field tags, skull
tags or cleared-and-stained tags, these little items were ideal – the
right
size, good quality paper, and with rounded edges that did not catch
specimens
or label strings. <span style=""> </span>We all bought all we
could get when they were discontinued. <span style=""> </span>I
have periodically searched for replacement tags with no luck at all,
and
eventually contacted Rick Bloniasz of TLS Printing in <st1:place
w:st="on"><st1:state w:st="on">New Hampshire</st1:state></st1:place>.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Rick informs me that his company is interested in
recreating
the Dennison tag (or one of the same width but ~5 mm longer), but they
have
found that machining the stamping die is pretty expensive. <span
style=""> </span>He would like to be assured that there is a
market for these tags before deciding whether to proceed. <span
style=""> </span>In that context, may I ask the community if
your institutions would want to purchase such tags, either <o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">(a) original dimensions, 17x6 mm with 1 mm hole 1
mm inset,
rounded ends, or<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">(b) 22x6 mm, same otherwise.<o:p></o:p></p>
