The California Academy of Sciences, Natural Science Collections Alliance and BCoN have teamed to develop a survey that will gather information about the status and trends of research collections in natural history museums, botanical gardens, and other natural
science collection facilities. The survey will for the first time this century provide a baseline of data that the natural science collections community can use to inform decision-making about the use of collections for research, to inform solutions to important
societal problems, and to understand how institutions are/are not investing in their own research collections and staff.<br>

The survey instrument is nearing completion and will be disseminated to curators, research directors and museum directors in the near future.
