You could always replace the print head, You should be able to find Datamax print heads online and replace it yourself, or contact the authorized service dealer for your area. We have the I-4308, purchased in 2002, and our print head is still available from
$200-$350. We replaced ours in 2006 by ourselves and the replacement is still going strong.
