through the 20th C. The need for a stable support led to photographs being made on metal, glass, and cellulose-based & polyester film. Each was developed for a specific type of photography process, or for the development of new materials at hand.

<p class="MsoPlainText">The most commonly recognized and long-lived supports are the film-based image processes. All of these items require different approaches and materials for their proper care and storage.<o:p></o:p></p>
