<div dir="ltr">Hi Casey,<div><br></div><div>it'd be useful to know what kind of 3D scanning you want to do. If it needs to be calibrated for morphometric research then you'd need a different type to one mainly intended for accurate colour reproduction. If you're after something that can do both then I think you will struggle for that budget. </div><div><br></div><div>If you just want a basic set up for public engagement use and to get familiar with 3D issues relating to 3D (like subsequent file management) then you can do it with photogrammetry using a decent camera to get multiple images and software like Autodesk ReCap / ReCap Pro to create the model. The Horniman Museum used this approach for their specimens (<a href="https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__sketchfab.com_HornimanMuseum&d=DwMFaQ&c=cjytLXgP8ixuoHflwc-poQ&r=LpYc_Z_iN1KRw0hheb3x6-8MJUMu482qfHowpGYJqwc&m=9aAALiBR5CwZc0uCrS_5GsPvDu5H38j0sKoz8dJE2-0&s=Ckpp3MsDgsig1TO56mJenZ9-yzG3af6wODDLIv0qKvk&e=">https://sketchfab.com/HornimanMuseum</a>).</div><div><br></div><div>Good luck!</div><div><br></div><div>Paolo</div><div> </div></div><div class="gmail_extra"><br><div class="gmail_quote">On 24 January 2018 at 21:31, Casey Tucker <span dir="ltr"><<a href="mailto:tuckercasey@hotmail.com" target="_blank">tuckercasey@hotmail.com</a>></span> wrote:<br><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0 0 0 .8ex;border-left:1px #ccc solid;padding-left:1ex">
