Our article profited from discussions at ABS-workshops held at
SPNHC conferences in Cardiff, Berlin and Denver and work in the
Legislations & Regulations Committee. It further profited from
the work of the ABS working groups of CETAF (Consortium of
European Taxonomic Facilities), the close exchange with the Global
Genome Biodiversity Network (GGBN) and from practical feedback the
authors received during various workshops and meeting dealing with
ABS.

Really appreciated the lively discussions during SPNHC
conferences which helped to shape this article.

Maybe you will find this useful.

All the best

some details:

The article takes the perspective of Natural History Collections,
which - as you may know - are deeply engaged in research
collaborations with providers of GR in many countries which
support the initial aims of ABS to conserve biodiversity and to
promote the sustainable use of the world's biodiversity. Our
article summarises recent developments resulting from the entering
into force of the NP on 12 Oct 2014, the European regulation (EU)
No. 511/2014 on ABS, and how they will impact on natural history
collections and biodiversity research globally (not only in
Europe, but also in North America).

It includes knowledge and experience from close contacts and the
feedback on ABS-related issues from major natural history
collection in Europe and the United States and from the
international DNA-barcoding community. We evaluate practical
challenges and implications for biodiversity researchers and
collections and suggest the formation of ABS-compliant
international networks to support monitoring and to enable a
simplified exchange of genetic resources which ultimately results
in the promotion of CBD-compliant biosciences.
