<p>NIES has had some programming work done on the e-permits system
and the programmers broke it. They are fixing it now, but for the
time being and until further notice:</p>
<p>When you renew your e-permit be absolutely positively sure that
you do NOT click on the box that asks about the shippers. As long
as you leave it as it was before (various shippers, various
countries) it should be fine. If you click on anything in that
box, it will erase your prior selection and even if you make the
same selection again, it won't let the staff issue for various
shippers, various countries. <br>
</p>
<p>Really, if you set your APHIS e-permit up the way that we worked
out with APHIS, there should be no need to change anything at all
when you renew except maybe your address. Just move through the
screens until you get to the payment screen. <br>
</p>
<p>On a related note, when you do your certificate of treatment,
please be sure to copy the language exactly as it appears on the
permit. Believe it or not, a customs agent actually got hissy
about this. Granted it was a customs agent in a small U.S. customs
port in a foreign country and they probably don't get enough
volume to know how to handle these documents. Just sharing what
happened so you can take care in writing your certificates of
treatment and avoid potential problems. <br>
