<p class="MsoNormal"><b>Data Carpentry Workshop &#8211; Expression of Interest<o:p></o:p></b></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Data analysis, programming, and reproducible research skills have long been identified as a need in the biodiversity community. The Carpentries (formerly Data Carpentry and Software Carpentry) is an organization with thousands of instructors
 and over a decade of experience in teaching these skills to researchers in a supportive and inclusive manner.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p>&nbsp;</o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">iDigBio has been involved with the Carpentries since the foundation of Data Carpentry in 2014. We've offered their workshops in Gainesville, FL and at the past three TDWG meetings. Our staff have participated in over 30 workshops and one
 of our first post-docs, François Michonneau, has just recently accepted a position as Curriculum Development Lead. We think the Carpentries is a great organization. While many museums and universities in the biodiversity community have already established
 their own relationships with the Carpentries through memberships and trained instructors, we want to help even more institutions participate.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p>&nbsp;</o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">We would like help in supporting a two day Carpentries instructor training workshop at the 2018 SPNHC &amp; TDWG meeting in Dunedin, NZ in the date range of August 23 - 26. If you would like to be trained as an instructor, support members of
