<p class="MsoNormal">We also do not maintain separate collections. The “provenance” table in our database allows multiple records, so we can trace not only what collection something came to us from, but where it originated before that. Thus, if necessary, we
 can reassemble someone’s collection. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Maintaining separate collections invites chaos, especially if they are kept in different places. However, an exception might be made for a collection whose age and provenance makes it especially worth preserving; here, for example, we have
 the plants brought back by the Lewis and Clark Expedition (1805), which are kept in a separate, climate-controlled room with higher security than the rest of the Botany collection.<o:p></o:p></p>

 accept new donations.<br>
When you want to integrate a new collection... which is your protocol? Do you junct the new collection with older (I mean to put together all the specimens of same species) or maintain the independence of the new collection (and only pool the data of new records
 in a unique Data Base)?<br>
